Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Hello everyone just wanted to get your opinions on the best slip bobber for bluegill. I consider myself an experienced fisherman and have never had good luck with slip bobbers. They always get tangled and end up not sliding up my line properly. Any information on which ones and how you set them up would be great.

Thanks and tight lines :)

I still like my old quill floats !!

i like em too... but i cant make em slip

Have any of you guys used the rocket bobber? I am a huge fan and use them exclusively for my fixed float. Although like i said i don't have luck using them as a slip bobber

really like the rocket bobber... like you not so much in the slip bobber mode... casts a mile... and as sensitive as a quill float

Brandon.....Johnny Wilkins is big on the Gapen floats....haven't tried them yet...really like Carl's quill and Keiths reed floats....besides that you can't beat the Thill's.  Use glass beads, not plastic. The plastics will groove and hang.

Hmm never heard of those. Maybe I'll check them out. Thanks!

this is the rig i usually use with the rocket bobber...

the weight is setup after the bait for optimal sensitivity... (no dead zones) taking full advantage of the rocket bobber to do its work

Ooh that looks interesting. I've never thought about that. I think I'll give that a shot!

Brandon.....here is the site for the Gapens

My fav float hands down is the bodied waggler (thill). Really great for wind and waves. Stick rod tip under water and reel snug to keep bow outta line. Weighted correctly is quite sensitive. In wave you get a rythym of now you see it now you don't now you see it ... Set hook when rythym changes or float lays on it's side.
Like mini steaths or mini shy bites on the long pole. Quills are good in calm water
Thanks for the great info! I'll keep those in mind. Man all the thill floats look so nice! The waggler isn't a slip float is it?

I use the Wagglers myself.  Yes, they are a slip-float.

I've had some extremely S-L-O-W strikes that took 3 - 4 seconds to completely submerge the float.
