Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Just curious if anyone has been tying any panfish jigs lately, looking for a bit of inspiration so I can tie up some. Need something to keep me busy until the panfish warm up!!

Nathan...just posted some pics today on jigs, check em out!

well sort of,  use all kinds of material and i have been adding skirts to small meps spinners

sort of a creative thing,  best thing i have used is yellow and bright green combo

I've been tying a bit, but most of the jigs are targeted at Crappie, Walleye, and/or Smallmouth.

Tying a bunch of poppers for my fly rod now ..... several different balsa body colors, but all with black hackle and white tails as these seem to always work.

found a bunch of small meph spiiners at a flea market,  kinda rough, but bought 25 of em for five bucks

first thing i did was to polish the spinner on polishing wheel, nice and shiney

checked hook and if needed replaced with new trebble

almost all of them were just spinners with no extras,  added yellow feathers to one of them, and a a few white feather streamers,  all it had was a brass ball above hook and under spinner, spinners about 1" long

made three of them,  went to trent river and tried them out    two small bass, but they worked!!  kinda nice looking re done spinners

I MAKE A FEW JIGS AND FLIES;; DEPENDS ON WHAT I WANT TO MAKE UP;; CRAPPIE OR BLUE GILL SIZES.  HAVE SEVERAL JIG HEADS JUST WAITING ON ME TO TIE THEM UP

I tie some jigs. Nothing real serious. Carl sent me a couple of his flies to try and make and have quite a few of those in several different color combinations. I'm still learning and enjoy it very much.
