Do you love big bluegill?

I'm wanting to try it. Just wondering if anybody has any tips for doing this?

A close family friend used to. He did it all in a big plastic muck bucket inside. He mixed some grains, kind of like oatmeal and he kept quartered small potatoes on top. He was just raising them for himself and visitors. He lived on a lake in FL. He used plastic to keep the beetles from climbing out too easily.

I do. Not very hard to do. I started with I think 40 from petco and have had probably close to 1000 at a time. My parents are divorced though and I split my time between the two and tend to forget about the guys, I could have a lot more if I was more dedicated to it but luckily they're pretty hardy so when I leave for a few weeks I still have enough to get a colony going again.

My original goal was to try and sell them but it seems everyone had the same idea as me right at the same time. Started seeing a lot of local ads for them, and my household financial situation meant I couldn't get all the stuff I really needed to sell them so I kinda just started using them to fish. I've caught quite a few fish on them though so it wasn't all in vain, and it's nice having my own stash whenever I want some, even though where I live you can really only fish for panfish during the summer months.

Whatever you want to know i'll tell you, ask away. If you can PM me though since I don't get on here super often anymore.

I've raised em before....Not to hard at all....Do a google search on "Raising Mealworms"
