I tried a spoon 1/12 0z. Kastmaster during a fishing trip in early June with some pretty good success. We were fishing in float tubes and drifting in water 20 to 30 ft. of water with heavy weeds on bottom. We tiped them half redworm and dropped the spoon down to the weed bed and reeled it back up a ft. we would jig it occassionally rite underneath our boat drifting. Between the two of us we caught around 30 quality fish redears, gills, and one crapie Thanks for info!

No, I haven't tossed spoons at them generally live bait under floats or drifted through deep water late summer. Used to be able to fish from a railroad trestle converted to Glacial Drumlin Trail and catch 10"+ fish, but that changed when they had to replace it.

Hey musky you should let me know when your heading up to green lake. i will find my gps and get you the coordinates to 10 cribs that have great gill fishing, and possibly stop out for some fishing.

Bill, Watched your video on fishing blue gills ect. with spoons on this site for the 2nd time! Just started giving spoons a try on my local lake in Jefferson Co., Wisconsin, Rock Lake and just started to have success at it. It's a ball! Thanks for turning me on to this method. If you are ever in the area, shoot me an email and maybe we can do some gill hunting together on "The Rock". Contact me at beaglebob@charter.net. Sincerely, Bob

Bill!

Alright I have absolutely no confidence in spoons for gills.... Dont hit your desk like that! Pick up your keybord and straitin up! Im outfishin even the oldtimers down here now size and number wise with crickets now. I dont know if its me just believing in them so much or what but any way. I use fathead minnows for my crappie and bass fishing. All I do is long pole. Ever used a spoon as a jig on a long pole? It kinda sounds stupid but at the same time BRILLIANT! After our bluegill spawn this month and me waiting on the dog days of summer for the massice schools in deep water...... Ima try and jig a spoon on a long pole for crappie. Something small Something super lite. Throw a dog a bone and recomend me a couple to order. This could be very cool.

Thats cool man! I spent 7 hours out on the creek today and bagged 30 stumpknockers, google eye, and a few bluegill. Out of the 6 hours I bet I spent 1 hour promoting the site to people out on the water. I caught several monster gills over 9" today and being the good scout I am I let them back in the water. Only had one to swallow the hook. Ive got to go out of town today so the whole plan was catchin fish for the lil lady that works at my local bait shop. I thought she was going to cry When I give her that bag of fish. All fat fat fat fish that were perfect 6 to 8".

Do unto others as you have them do unto you!
And take a kid fishing

Yea Bill. I love to ice fish. Take all of January off just to fish. May start open water when the kids are out of college. 9 and 17 now. Nothing better then pulling a Big Bluegill out of an ice hole.

I found this site after viewing your video on filleting bluegills. I was very impressed with the lack of mess on your board after cleaning several fish. Great site and great page. I look forward to sharing.
