What is your opinion on flyfishing for blue gill. If or if not what is your favorite gear. It doesn't matter if it is a good old fashion worm and bobber or the most advance electrical thing-a-ma-jig on the market.
A great way to fish for big gills. And not just topwater. I've been throwing mini-wooly-buggers and some other interesting flies I tie the last few years. I use a 4 WT Orvis Zero-Gravity with a 5 WT line. Awesome. No other fish fights like a BG.
I use a ultra light rod with 4 pound test line, #8 hook baited with garden worms. However after joining this site I can't wait to try my old cane pole and today I can't think of a better thing to do than buy a fly rod. Shure hope the wife feels the same way about that

Have been fly rodding for bluegill since the late 1960's. True enjoyment for me. When I learned (?) how to tie flies it really made fly fishing fun. The most relaxing thing I can do is paddle around in my pontoon boat, fly fishing for bluegill.
