Caught 50 small bluegills on the Alabama river Monday. Using a white popping bug.
NO size to them, all small, but fun anyway

Most of my bluegill fishing is in ponds or stock tanks depending on what locals call those smaller holes of water. I've fished rivers and tributaries throughout Texas in the past but same here, small fish. I have seen some of the most colorful gills and sunfish come out of rivers however.
The way I look at it anything tugging on a fishing pole is good. I'm having fun with a growing population of Red Ear that just love those little plastic tubes on a 1/32 oz jig. Its all good! ( but it is hotter than heck now!)
