ky. lake

We were fishing bluffs with short shelves about 6 ft. deep on the main channels next to deep water . The temp. was 66 i think im not sure i didn't have alot of time to take alot of notes . We were using crickets and black and yellow grubs on beetlespins . The bigger fish seem to be just over the ledge of the shelves . The CRACKERS came from sand bars out in the middle close to stake beds . I'm ready to go back now ! Brother -n-law says its not even got good yet , man i hope he's right .…

Hot Spot

What a day ! Kentucky lake is great ! My first day on ky. lake and im cleaning 43 fish . The gills are monsters and my personal favorite the CRACKERS are wonderful and huge . The crappie arent bad either . My brother-n-law and father-n-law and myself got to the lake around 11am and left at 4 and had non stop pole bending action!!!! My poor wife , i know im gonna be at the brother-n-laws house more than my own now . I'm gonna have to invest in a camper at the lake of course !

They're Back

Today was a good day ! This morning started a little slow but when the breeze picked up the bite was on caugth 25 or 30 not sure but i know exactly how many 10" or better i used my knife on 18 . Todays lunker was 14 - 3/4 " long . I love Shell Crackin !! I did catch a few big gills but i only had 4 that was 9 inches . Crackers got to be 10 and the gills got to be 9 you gotta leave seed or your fishing hole will go dry . Its only gonna get better now !!

Welcome James to bigbluegill.com. This is a site with loads of information where we can learn and enjoy in doing so. We have Forums that are interesting in themselves. Feel free to read the forums they are loaded with information and above all don't be afraid to jump in and participate we are all learning we can never learn enough and what to continue in our learning process, maybe you have that little extra something that we can put in our bag of tricks to make us even a little better fisherman/fisherwoman. On this site there is lots of information which we can use to fine tune our fishing skills maybe helping us in our pursuit of catching that special little fish we call blue gill which encompasses redears and pumpkinseeds. We also have interesting bits of wisdom on perch and crappies and the list goes on, cause we all love to catch fish or we probably wouldn't be here now.
We also have Blogs again loaded with information. This site is all about catching bluegills and we do that with some success but what we really want is that ultimate giant for bragging rights and you'll see there are some big gills caught. Its just a good well rounded site with loads of information with good people who don't mind sharing, we have loads of fun doing so which you will see. We also have some of the best photo's on the net here for us to look at put in by our members here at BBG. We have a video section that will keep your blood pumping and make you want to be fishing on that special lake or river fishing your heart out. (TAKE A KID FISHING) such a great high.
Above all we want you to enjoy yourself don't be afraid to share some of your fishing experiences with us we would love to hear about them please don't be afraid to share your exact lakes with me with all GPS coordinates and the exact baits you used it will be my little secret I won't tell soul.
We also have a Chat Room which in my opinion is very underused, but you must be log in to access it. So by all means log in and use It, you will meet some interesting and great people there who knows you may even catch me there. Enjoy, have fun but above all be safe in doing so and GOOD FISHIN..
