- What type of animal is a bluegill?
- 1/2 acre pond built 50 years ago by my grandfather. 70'x220' and half the length is 3-4' and the other half dredged 5 years ago to 10-12'. Artesian spring fed at about 20 gal/hr and drains out to a wet-land. Water quality appears good and we have two aerators to add oxygen when needed. Over the last five years we grew a great crop of rainbow trout (200 initially stocked) and they grew to as much as 28" and 9 pounds till we fished them all out last year. We now want to change to bluegills and warm water fish to provide good fishing for the kids.
