That's what it is, David. Two strands of Pearl Krystal Flash twisted together and wrapped so as to represent ribbing on the abdomen of the fly. The dubbing for the abdomen is Dave Whitlock SLF Red Fox Squirrel Nymph - Abdomen. It is also designated as #02 and the thorax is Dave Whitlock SLF Red Fox Squirrel Nymph - Thorax or # 01. The tail is from a red fox squirrel tail and the legs are silli legs, preferably in an orange color with black speckles. This same pattern, without the tail or the legs but with a speckled hen soft hackle can be used to represent an "October Caddis" emerger.

What's theittle sparkly business going on there in the abdomen?

Something I me to do is twist and tie in a couple strands of crystal flash. It gives it the same look...

A variation on the cap spider design.
Another option is to tie these on 1/74, 1/80 and 1/100 jigs.

Very nice beaded Nymph Randall!  I have made ,used and caught fish with  fox hair/ Turkey tail Jigs tipped with twister tails ,I have tied rubber skirt legs on ice ants before ,I have had a lot of success with squirrel tail Jigs I make ,but now I gotta start putting those cool rubber legs on them and try that too Thanks for the idea  man!

David, I usually tie the RFSN in either a #10 or #12.
