Looks like most of the CA bluegillers are down south. I'm from there myself but live in Silicon Valley now (all roads kinda lead here for many parts of the computer business), sure hope I can get down there to fish Perris or DVL one of these days. Maybe next summer, if I'm lucky.

The ear flap on males is larger on males. This remains the case throughout the fishes life.

isn't this the pier in sail cove? I thought I remember you fishing next to my family, I think you where talking to my mom and offered us a shad.
