Jen,

A Shadow Bass is a close relative of the Rock Bass. I have caught lots of Rock Bass in the Illinois River dainage (Barren Fork R., 14 Mile Creek, etc.) but only ever caught the Shadow Bass in the upper Ouachita R. drainage in the National Forest south of Heavner, OK. They are really cool fish and few and far between, even when you specifically target them. Here is what they look like. Very similar to a Rock Bass, not as dark and bronzy color.

Yes Dean I'm having a good time with your fly pattern and the various color hybids thereof!

Jim, he was 10"

Greg, I think it was on a leggy fly tied with peacock colored ice dubbing and moose hair shellback

Keith, what is a shadow bass?
