We got several over 10 today but had to work really hard for these fish in shallow conditions where other anglers were all around us. All fish released.
Nice Redear friend! Thanks for the comments on the bass pictures as well! I really enjoyed your article in the latest In-Fisherman about backyard bass...great stuff!
Indeed, they are powerhouses. Problem was, there were only a few spots along the shoreline that were open and free of weedgrowth. Where ever these open spots were we could see spawning crackers and gills. When we did hook a fish we had to hustle it away from the rest of the colony so as not to spook them all. Lots of other people saw us catch them and then they would move in when we went to another location. These fish were skittish and picky, and the other anglers quickly gave up on them.
Sometimes Matt and I would work on a single large fish for 5 to 10 minutes to get them to take an artificial, some of them were in 12 in of water! We saw some that looked to be 12 in catagory. Place is only 10 minutes from my house so I'm goin back soon!
