Thanks for the nice comments, guys! Many of the lake variety perch in our region have that 'humpback' appearance that you might not seem to notice so much when the perch are spawning and full of eggs. Tidal river yellow perch don't seem to display this characteristic near as much as the lake fish. This particular fish was taken in early June.

Piney Run has had an explosion of perch in the past few seasons, with fish approaching 15 inches showing up and a lot of 12 inch class fish in the spring during April and May. Few people target them, yet the fishery is there for the taking. I am anxious to try the RF spoons on them this fall. Tons of smaller perch are providing a dominant forage for many gamefish species, and perch-patterned lures are taking bass and stripers each year.

Man i wish all those yellow perch up at Piney Run could grow to that size or at least 10 inches.

Thanks guys, By the way, the perchzilla that was posted a couple of days ago are of the MD state record...3 lb 5 oz and 16 1/4 in long. It was the 4 th heaviest yellow perch ever recorded in North America and the largest in the past 40 years in this country. Caught in a 1/2 acre pond on a nightcrawler hooked on a jig head, sittin on the bottom. Wow!

Excellent again Jim.You are the Perch Man!
How deep do you think that fish was? I want to target Yellow and White Perch and the best I can do is catch them in with the Gills and Crappies I'm trolling and drifting for.

Nice!!....I'd like a half dozen of them for a stringer mount...Gorgeous inland lake colors, and an exceptional fish.
