Do you love big bluegill?
Even though it felt like it was going to be a big gill day, weather and no wind cloudy with drizzle in the air. I experienced very little activity even with waxies and gulp maggots in three different colors. Water temps in the mid 40s and going south quickly in the next couple weeks looking at the forecast. Probably ice-on earlier than last year. Started out calm got a few small fish in then the drizzle turned to sprinkles and then rain. Had my FOULweather gear handy and sat thru it for about 50 mins. Saw clearing and then the winds blew me off the lake. Again!

thanks Jim!
after doing a quick scan of the deeper lake basin could not spot a fish. a key area of this lake is at the 9 ft depth where the original lake was before flooding ... sunfish just hung at these spots spring thru early fall... since this sudden onset of very cold temps sent the fish shallow and scattered in the 4 to 8ft weed flats. no bluegill or crappie schools ... just hit and miss pickups... once a fish was caught drifting i set up waypoints and hit them hard looking for schooling activity. nothing or very very thinly schooled. i little harder to catch numbers but still enjoyable to get out. and yes still being blessed with some quality fish.thankfully
good fishing

Well, Ken, look at it this way...you are still catching some good fish for your area, and under some very adverse conditions.
Bravo!
