I have fished Lower Otay in San Diego and have not been able to find the gills, they sure do hide well. anybody got any tips?

Yeah i fish those lakes every blue moon, but there a little far for me to drive on a regular basis. I have a few Riverside County lakes that i can catch crappies year round
