RC boats and planes are not allowed, but kites probably are. I thought about that, but I don't know how that would work.

Do they make fishing kites for light tackle? Do you think that would be frowned upon? You would have to catch the wind just right.

Today I am posting my well known local places to fish with no effort made to disguise them because they are not secrets and they are places I may go if I have only a little time but don't have great hopes for. This mill pond is a little different because it does have more upside potential than any of the others. I feel pretty certain that there are trophy fish here. That's also no secret. When you fish there, half the conversations are about how to cast something further down the lake than anyone has before or has recently.

No water access. Down by the dam at the mill house they grind corn meal a few times during the day on weekends and give tours of the mill. You can walk on the deck up to the hand rail on the side of the mill and see lots of life in the water. All the rest of the way around, it's "stay on the trail" and fishing is strictly prohibited anywhere but the walkway.

One of these days I am going to try a gimmick I have on a shelf out there. Years ago I bought this bobber that looks like a UFO with a counterweight under it. When you tug on it, it dives at a steep angle toward you. When you give it free line, it surfaces moving at a shallow angle away from you. It's for working jigs under floating boat houses. but I think maybe I could use it to work a small jig near shore about as far as I can cast and then a little further from its action (there is a point of diminishing return from line weight and friction). This park is heavily patrolled and under surveillance; there are valuable antiques out in the open. A side effect of that security is that I can just about guarantee you that most of the fish in the pond have never seen a hook. Except for the ones that live near the inlet; they have seen plenty.

On the left is the whole pond/lake. On the right is the walkway; the only place fishing is allowed. It's a long cast to the creek mouth or shore by the inlet. Can get crowded on nice days only because there isn't much room; 6 or 8 people is okay; a dozen gets tight. Being about the only one there is best since you can try different areas. It can be tough at times. Has crappie, bluegill, bass and catfish.
