She was camped out about forty feet from the automatic feeder I just put on that pond late last summer, so assuming she's none the worse for wear from being caught, she might get bigger. Hope so at least.

Alas, I, the person always inquiring as to whether other anglers have weighed their big bluegill, did not weigh this fish...I confess I was negligent. I just wanted to get her back in the water as quickly as possible, as she looked not to be enjoying lying on the ruler which she kept sliding off of. I'd estimate she weighed a pound or so.

I did notice the eye, wondered about it a little...None of the other thirty or so 'gills we caught today had any sort of eye issue, or other apparent health problems. The smaller 'gills actually on the whole looked more robust than this one, which I would guess is an old fish.
Nice fish!... but do you think she has "Popeye" or Dropsey? Looks like her eye is bulging out somewhat. I know when I had some cichlids in an aquarium years ago, some of them ended up with an eye parasite that gave them that same look...

Thanks, Fly! She gave a good tussle and swam off sprightly.
