Real good eating fish for sure. I was very happy to find them here in GA. I like fishing a jig and minnow combination for them.
Cool, Jim. thanks for the info!
Ive never even seen a yellow perch until I moved to SC. This is odd, as they are renowned for the sport they offer Northern anglers. We are at the southern limit of their range here and I'm guessing that only large water bodies with enough depth to offer colder temps will do for them.. Anyway, as far as I know few anglers here bother with them. The same can be said of the totally unrelated, but similarly named, white perch.
hi david, hoping to go perch fishing here soon.they move to the shore this time of year and it is kinda cool fishing in downtown chicago.we fish the north side of navy pier .park inside and walk 30 feet drop a crappie rig with 2 minnows and if they are in we usually get our limit in an hour.i rarely keep a perch under12 inches.lake michigan is pretty clean now so there is no better eating than these fish
A little yellow perch, just a dink. The lake is supposedly full of them and I DO catch them now and then.
