Do you love big bluegill?

Thanks guys. Worms are the go-to bait for these fish, with wigglers/reds leading the field. These things come along right into the winter, at least so far. I expect they will taper off during December and be pretty much inaccessible from shore. But I will keep casting a line when I can.
Those crackers love wigglers! Real good solid fish, David. Congrats on your catch.
Dude, that's a CHUNK of a shellcracker...I haven't seen that many of these fish caught this late in the year show up on these boards like this year. Maybe you guys are onto something with these early winter crackers?? Nice fish David!!
Lake Murray, SC - Shellcracker, or read ear sunfish, caught off the bottom.
Date: December 4, 2012
Bait: Redworm
Tackle: Quantum U/L rod, spinning reel.
- #6 Aberdeen hook
- 3/8 oz, slip sinker rig.
These fish grow to some decent size in Lake Murray. Those are 1" scale markings on my rod and the tail starts at zero.
