@ Robert - A great lessons for kids is this: To sustain ourselves, something else must perish, be it plant or animal.
This can serve to teach respect for the lower creatures entrusted into our stewardship, so as not to waste their lives.
The moral? "If one is to eat fish, there must be blood."
