Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

These are the flies that have been catching fish lately
There are gazillion that I could tie - and I've tied a bunch.
But these have been getting their attention over the last few weeks.
From left to right:

Rubber legged floating spiders
Black Briminator
Two Hackle Skimmers
Small poppers

Id probably do the same, get tired of it and put it on the shelf.

We have wicker picnic basket that's what made me think of it. I used to see those creels in decorator shops. I don't think I would carry one so a it would be a display piece anyway.

It's a basket I borrowed from the kitchen, Keith! :-)

I've always wanted one of those creels, though. Years ago, I toted a canvas fish bag. But it's long gone. I think maybe I just figured out what I want for Xmas!

Is that your wicker creel or your picnic basket?

Thanks Chris.
All but the Brimjnator are top water or near surface baits.
Each are perfect for small, protected waters.

The spiders and skaters beg for a long, light leader, though. You gotta get the balance right with these to present them well. I stage a thick midsection in my leaders and a lengthy mono tippet, to get a stop-and-fall presentation for these dainty things. Luckily, neither the poppers nor Briminator really care!
