Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

That's right...don't mean to rub it in...but I just had to do it!
These are crappie and bluegill fillets, though small, tasted spectacular when coming from the icy depths of a frozen lake!

Jim, you need to try a couple of them fillets next time, between a bun with sharp cheddar on it!

Nice Jim!! I also keep more fish  from November on and  through the ice than other times .They do taste better !  Trout I keep anytime .Love smoked Trout!

I am looking forward to my own ice feast this season.

I think they all taste great, mabye in the winter they are colder so they keep fresh longer.

i put my fish on ice soon after catching them all year long , and they all have the same great flavor

You've made me insanely hungry!

You're right, Bill! Just something about the flavor of fish caught through the ice. My guess is that the ice cold water just somehow enhances the flavor of all panfish species. I actually keep more fish fishing through the ice than any other time of the year, but still release the big boys.
