Upon reeling in the fish, I commented "Holy cow what a big mama!"  So I should stick with my first impression and say female but will save the sexing of the fish to someone more qualified on this site.

Nice fish!!!

I am curious though. The fish looks gravid to me,  it has a smaller opercular flap, and the breast colors lean more to yellow than dark orange. However, I can see black tipping on the shoulder scales, which is usually indicative of a male.

So what do you think?  I'm going with female.
