the way u do it it ok with bigger gills but the size of those ones, their isnt enough meat on the ribs to mess with

I've never really seen any indications that the meat on top of the ribs was fatty in any way. I'm with 2lbgill...got to get that meat off the ribs. Musky Mod has a great video on cleaning gills. I've used his technique on bluegill (any sunfish variety), crappie, white bass, yellow perch, and largemouth bass.

That's the way i filet my panfish. Don't need the fatty meat from the stomach
