Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Caught two of these today...this one is big...11 1/8 inches and probably close to 1 1/2 lbs. It is lacking the yellow/orange fin edgings that the other big hybrids had. Also, no'helmet' and the gillflap is noticeably smaller. Could it be a rare female hybrid?

Thanks, guys. This is the first one we have caught that looked like this. Still real thick right down to the tail and a powerhouse fight. We have caught 5 this past month that have exceeded 11 inches...still no 12 incher. I'm startin to think about replicas. Might be a tough paint job though.

You know, Fish Chris was right...these fish all look kind of alike, but no two of them look exactly the same. In reviewing my photos of them there are no identical hybrids among them. A hybrid trait?

What did she take?.....female hybs are super rare and commonly small.....I think she was attracted to your uncanny resemblance to Brett Favre!
