They will ride with the hook up but I jig them as I retrieve and they flutter like a spoon. I went to the local park this evening and used one of the larger ones. No hits on anything I threw as the water was high but the fly cast fine and I watched it up close and it seems to work well when jigged/jerked along.
I had to do some shaping on the nails and I found that it was better to superglue the hooks on first then go back with one minute epoxy after the hook was glued and epoxy them permanently.
I used my Sharpy pens to color them. I worked okay until I tried to put some Sally Hanson Hard as Nails on top to protect the color. The nail polish made the Sharpy run. Tried Superglue also but it turned the color a different shade.
I will probably use enamel paint or nail polish if I make more. I want to try them where I know there are some gills.
I have always felt left out when Bill "Muskie" Modica catches those big bulls on spoons. Weighted and on a sinking line, might just get down there. Need one painted in Swedish Pimple!!!!!!!! Great Job!!!!!!!

I tried the fingernails a few months ago and was not successful. Do yours ride hook up?
