Longear won't reproduce much, if any, in a pond. They're much more of a moving-water fish and don't thrive in ponds. So no worry on them reproducing - I'd be surprised if they do so at all in the presence of bass.

I have some 16 inch bass that I hope will take care of them if not. Me and my little fishing crew will.

Do you have any idea how well these reproduce? I am sure the pure BG will keep them in check but just wondering what would happen if left in there.

I wonder what a BGxLongear would look like?

no creek at less one with water. I don't know but I'm starting to keep any type of sun fish I catch. And any small HBG.

I think they may have been put in the same time someone helped add som Greensunfis to your pond.

Plus I think you have caught one before if I remember just wondering if it is the same one and if it has grown any.

When I get a chance I will see if I can find it.

Very unlikely it would have been in with minnows unless the minnows were seined from a river or stream - most hatcheries don't raise longear. Does any water drain out of the pond, even just during floods? If so, it could have swum upstream from whatever stream or river the drainage flows into.

Or, you have a bird visiting your pond. I've heard sometimes they come complete with fish eggs between their toes, lol. I would think turtles cause the same problem.

This is what i don't understand. It's a retention pond. Think this could have been in with some minnows I bought? This thing was only about 4" long. I've go back though my picture of fish caught in my pond. This is the first one I've seen.

That's a longear sunfish - neither bluegill nor HBG. Does your pond feed into a stream or river?
