I simply can't imagine the fight this fish put up, I'll almost guarantee this fella probably thought he had a five or six pound catfish.

I've read a little on the Colorado River/Lake Havasu and evidently Redear were introduced there to combat an invasive mussel or something. It's widely known that 2 and 3lb redear are common in those waters.

Redears are about the only known freshwater fish to aggresively eat these invasive critters. Redears grow much faster than bluegill on average and are generally a thicker bodied fish. I've compared fillets from a 10inch redear to a 10inch bluegill and there's a fairly big difference in mass. It's actually more noticable in the smaller fish, like the 8inchers, big difference.

The one shown earlier by Marisa was from last year. If this one is current from February, I'd say there are a few lunkers, still lurking.

Is this a recent catch? Is the potential for fish like this still exist at Havasu? Wonder what the current state of the fishery is?
