Water temp here in NJ by an inflow pipe reached 46 degrees with a warm drizzle of rain.Once again casting a spoon attracts Perch followers which were then caught on a fixed float/#6 ,then # 10 Aberdeen hook threaded with a meal worm.3 Dink 7" Male Perch and 2 Dink Gills.Fished for an hour from noon to 1pm. The spoon called Perch in the other day too when the water Temp was 42 but I was only able to catch one Dink Perch then and it was on the Little Cleo spoon. It's slowly developing.
March 31st skunked at Shepherds with Steve. One follow up
and nip of a Pickerel by the rocks after Cove in SE 47 was highest WT.
GREG and i got skunked fishing a few sections of the Ramapo River in NY .Cold Rainy day .Ended up in a bar for lunch in Suffern NY !
4/19 1/4 oz Little Cleo had some follow ups and caught a few more perch using as a search lure . Caught a few following up with a floated Jig/worm and Jig Worm on bottom.
Perch 1st, then Gills, then a White Perch , then Bass , then Crappie.
THEN A CUPSAW WALLEYE , except Greg lost it at the boat . Again tough wind and boat control .The walleye hit a 1/2 crawler on a weed less jig head . Line broke either at the reel or up on the guides somewhere.Gotta remind Greg to inspect line cuts at roller or guides. The fish stayed down a long time and Greg couldn't raise the rod because of the trouble he sensed with reel and rod .It appeared to be a 2-2.5# Walleye, maybe 17 "or more. Small Perch and a White Perch were caught dragging worms on jigs near creek channel and basin areas.
