Do you love big bluegill?

got this little one the other day;; notice the indention on its back dorsal;; any body know why its like that? i saw no type of other marks; like something tried to bite it

working with aquarium fishes a great deal of my life ... a fin wound turned fungal infection will heal similar to that also.

Carl...I see stuff like this a good bit in my region. We have ospreys, hawks, eagles, herons and the shallow bedding gills are especially vulnerable to air attacks when they are nesting. That one you have clearly survived a serious wound at one time earlier in life and looks to have healed over completely.

I recently saw some fairly fresh wounds on 10-inch class fish at one of my favorite lakes. Crazy!
