Amazing story.  Many of the biggest bluegill come out of systems that are surprisingly clear.  Usually you associate clarity with lack of productivity.  The final piece of the puzzle is usually either low competition, or some unique abundant prey source like glass shrimp, or crayfish....something fairly slow and accessible...but abundant.

Its a replica(real one fell of wall three times and was tired of repairing it)caught where three ponds hook to gether ,very clear spring water, lots of underwater moss and belive me I have made many casts from the exact same spot many years in a row, sad thing they drained these ponds to do bank work and fishing was never the same, there was a bass we named george that we (dad and I) saw for weeks on end (very big) I remember catching a large bullfrog and just hooking a no. 6 hook through it lip and through him out like it was a softball it said out and just foated for a while and george came up and swollowed him , had him on for a few min. befor he spit him out (was never hooked just too much frog to spit out I guess) dad caught him a few weeks later right at 7 lbs and had a baby duck in his gut.. the good ol days..

I'm speechless! Well, almost ;) I have brooms that aren't as wide as that tail. Amazing fish! If I were you, I'd stand in that spot late at night and fish on a pretty regular basis :-)

...and 11 o'clock at night is really interesting.  The water must have been ultra-clear.

Agreed.  I'll bet that fish is a survivor.  I'd also bet that this fish had ample forage from the first year through his last.  Typically it will occur in a pond with limited competition from others of the same species.
