 VERY INTERESTING AND ALOT OF KNOWLEDGE HERE TO BE SURE! ARE you sure there are no Walleyes in California?  Seems to me with the gin clear water and very deep lakes they would thrive there. THIS a subject for an open discussion of some kind I would think.
 Seems like there should be WALLYS in those lakes out there.

One last thing about Nightcrawler Secrets rods, the original users of these things were walleye (and to some extent LMB, I would guess) fishermen in the midwest. Walleye sound like an amazing fish, too bad we don't have them here in California.

Nightcrawler Secrets rods were custom built for Fishing Facts Magazine/Northwoods Tackle in the sixties and well into the seventies. I got my first one when I was in middle school, a five-foot one-piece ultralight, although it's fairly heavy by UL standards and has a stiff but slow action, with some real backbone to it. This one and the two-piece seven-foot NS rods, turquoise colored with aluminum oxide guides and black and gold reel seats. They made a few different models in the seven-foot length, for purposes such as general purpose and backtrolling. I have one of the seven-foot GP ones. Like other NS rods, it has a pretty slow action and is designed for fishing lightly weighted, or even un-weighted, nightcrawlers.

The nine-foot NS rods were different than the rest. These were built on Fenwick FL108-9 blanks. I think the later ones had aluminum oxide guides, but mine appears to be one of the earlier models and has carbide guides. I don't know if they were all built by Vanguard or just the earlier ones, but mine is a Vanguard build. I have yet to put it to use (not exactly a BG rod, although it could be used as one) but I have it paired with a period Shakespeare reel that I also got in middle school or maybe even late in grade school and used for years on my five-foot NS rod. I briefly tried it in my float tube, but it's a bit long and heavy for tube use, at least for me. I think it will be much better as a shore or boat rod.

THANKS MARK AND JB. YUP THEY ARE IN PRETTY NICE SHAPE. Sounds like you found some treasures of your own JB.  I believe I commented on your Fenwick when the pics first went up and it's a nice rod and am unfamiliar with the night crawler secrets rod.

  Ya know I kind of am a quandery as to whether or not post any more pics for fear of boring people with this old stuff. Only have a few left to do and may go ahead and post em when time permits anyway. What do you think fellas?

Wow, those things look like they're brand new!

I picked up a new-never-used Fenwick FF-80 a few months ago, and more recently an almost-unused 9-foot Nightcrawler Secrets rod. It's really cool to find stuff like this :)

Yep Master Leo these are both anodized and all of em were back as far as the 50's for sure. Don't know about others before that , but believe they were all anodized. The green one is a bit faded and don't know why. My others from earlier than this were darker green and the one I use from 1954 is darker too I believe. It's a 7'9" with a snap lock seat.
  Hope you enjoyed all the pics Leo ole buddy . I just woke up from my after supper nap of two hours . GOt burned out today doing pics and all and really enjoyed it , to be sure.
