thanks Adam...Yep you and John both are correct… believe it or not this is actually the first sucker I have ever caught … I never target them.

I officially submitted the fish as a white sucker for the Master Angler Certificate.

Great fish, Slip. You may actually have a trophy white sucker as John said. A key ID characteristic for white suckers that my old ichthyology instructor taught us was to check the scales. They start out smaller up by the gills and gradually get larger toward the tail of the fish, which your fish appears to be showing. Redhorses will have larger and more uniform scales throughout the entire fish. I posted a golden redhorse a few years back if you need a reference (my computer doesn't seem to want to let me load the pic into the comment at the moment).

Ah ,a Redhorse ,looks so much like my White sucker except mine has a red blotch on the tip of the Anal fin. The Dorsal fins look exact which is why i thought yours was a White Sucker too !
