Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

20150425- after a week of more than mid to upper 20s for lows finally seeing some rebounding in temps. The water temp was in the low 40s more than 10 deg drop in water temps in less than one week. Only fish active were the pike… still fun to catch. This guy made some good runs… at 26” and light tackle they are a blast. Looks like we got a string of warmer weather headed our way… this will only make the fishing better.

im thinking the pike and walleye were the only species active since the huge nosedive in temps

thanks Jim!... i cant remember the last time i harvested a pike... but definitely they need to be harvested and this one would definitely be in the slot ... lost many a panfish jig to these guys  on an outing... set the hook and nothing but air. just way to many of these guys in the lake.

I actually like pike to eat. Looks like a potential 'eater' there!

Thanks Eric... it is one of my favorites... a very transitional spot... different species move in and out on a daily basis also on a seasonal basis. ... pike, muskies, walleyes, rock bass, crappie and white bass. Very few gill here... I think with the predetor ratio this high gill never show up or they get eaten.
Very few fisherman from shore because there is no parking. .. just a walk to or boat... it's about 1/4 mile from my residence... I might walk to and from a couple times during a good day.
