Richmond Mill Lake is undoubtedly the most fascinating lake I have had the pleasure of working on in my entire 30 year career as a private fisheries biologist. It was built in 1835...and was a year old when Davy Crockett was killed in the Alamo. It runs 7-9,000 gallons of black, acidic water over the spillway every minute of every day and it has some of the fastest growing, youngest, giant fish I have ever seen. Mature pond cypress, gum trees, unique aquatic plants, cool native fishes...and the most consistent, biggest bluegill I have seen anywhere in North America. Pretty amazing lake.
