Wow the fish in Havasu are of awesome quality. I will have to make a trip there one day.
I don't think the big sunfish there at Havasu are hybrids. Some might be, but those mussel eating Redears are growing huge on all the new mollusks that are showing up in the lake. Quagga Mussels and Zebra Mussels are spreading like crazy in that area, but the Shell Crackers are loving them, and all that protein has helped the fish grow into huge specimens, like the recently caught World Record Redear.
Yeah that is what a few guys are saying that they are a RAedear/Bluegill hybrid but hey I don't care they are a blast to catch and these things are huge. Thank you all for the kind comments, it's always a lot of fun sharing a good fishing story but then too there are not any bad one's I think. A day fishing is a great day, if they are biting it just makes it even better.
