Wow! That's BIG Bluegill! I caught some nice bluegills over 9 inch from below dam. I believe that lot of food from the lake down to feed bluegills to grow big! Good size of water and good ( 6 to 10 ft) depth below dam .....GREAT spot!

Yes Zig... It was hot, during July and we were in a boat bass fishing along the face of the lake dam were we saw some nice shadows of decent sized fish in the shade of the overflow column. Turned out it was a school of big Bluegills in 60 ft of water! We broke out the ultralight rods and had a ball for about an hour. This giant was the largest but all fish were about a pound and 10 to 11 inches long! The 3 of us probably caught about 20 fish. Fantastic! All C & R.

What are the conditions this fish was caught in?
That concrete in the backround gives me a mental picture of fishing deep water.

Great catch - both from the water and in photo!

Most people brag about "hand sized bluegill"! This one is a double hander!
