JUST MY TWO CENTS HERE: WHO CARES HOW OR WERE THIS FISH WAS CAUGHT? BRUCE the leader of the band happens to be right in my own little mind. In one way or another all water is managed by either Nature, State's, or a private organization, or private owners by themselves or others. Hope to see lots of pics from this place in the future so I can personally be amazed every time I look at em. Is the fact that it's a pay lake a big concern , not to me, but obviously to others it is. I know there have been bigger ones caught there and more power to the folks who manage it and the ones who participate there.
It's just not for me and that's a personal choice , and if anyone thinks the price of admission is too high don't go. It's just that simple for me ....... STILL A GREAT PIC AND WISH MY DAD WAS ALIVE so I could have taken him maybe .......

Too many people are concerned about diminishing other's accomplishments, and should be more concerned with creating their own.  Just be happy for other people, and if you want to slam them, don't do it on this forum.

Great fish, Robbie.  A true accomplishment.

Walt, your comments are spot on.

Anybody who thinks it's like shooting fish in a barrel has never been there.

Trust me.

the largest gills i have personally ever seen were at brookfield zoo outside chicago.there is a big pond with a nature trail around.the pond is probably a couple acres, full of ducks geese turtles .all tall grass and overhanging trees and bushes.never seen a hook of course but shows the potential of the local waters.some i saw on beds a few years ago had to be well over 2 lbs.

I like Jeff Soto's idea! Butt it would'nt last after the first lil kid got pulled off the bank into the pond, you know the parents would sue!

What does it say if you open up a can of worms on a Bluegill fishing site? Gotta' be a hidden meaning somewhere in there.

I'll admit to thinking that this had the potential to be a hot topic.....but I know that we can all share our views without resorting to the nonsense that plague so many other forums, and that's one of the reasons why BBG is such an awesome place.....everyone gets to voice their opinions, and we can do so in an informative, sharing, and non-judgemental fashion.

There's room for all of us here, irregardless of how we may feel about certain subjects. I believe that we all have  something to bring to the table, or add to the discussion.....and hopefully, we'll come away with new information or a new perspective on the matter. I know I usually do, and I appreciate everyone who helps enlighten me!

I remember that story...."A sound of thunder"....

Comment by Jeff Soto on February 5, 2013 at 1:24pm

Wouldn't it be a great gesture for the surrounding community if the owners of Ricmond Mill were to net 50 to 100 of those jumbo gills, then stock them in nearby park ponds and other small public fishing areas to give the less fortunate (and kids) a chance at catching a fish of a lifetime?   Now again I fear I'm opening up another can of worms, I'm just typing what I'm thinking..
