That is awesome! Congrats, my friend! The coolest part is you let her go, man that is very respectable!

Just an outstanding fish IceWarrior!....I've never caught a RBS, they simply don't make them in the Chicagoland area.....but if they did, I would have to put that one on the replica list......great fish!

Thanks everybody for the kind comments on my RedBreast Sunfish!!! As you can probably tell from the photos, I caught him around dusk as the light was fading. I caught him on a 2 inch Rapala Jointed Shad Rap (Shad color, Black back, Suspending) slowly cranking back to shore (first time this year I've had to use a crankbait--I normally use these crankbaits only for trolling purposes...Pretty much out of my comfort zone because I don't have alot of faith in Crankbaits--I'm a die-hard jighead and soft plastic man!!!) Anyway the bite was very hard to come by and I simply could not cast my lightweight jig very far to the deeper water where the Monsters lurk--so I went to the Shad Rap as I can cast this a mile. Although the trebles would get weed choked on almost every cast, I could still crank about 20-25 feet before it would hit the deep weed edge and I was lucky when this Big Guy hit it. I really thought I had just gotten snagged on a big underwater log because the lure stopped like it hit a brick wall for several seconds and I was just going to start to try to unsnag it when I felt the fish moving. It felt like a 5 lbs Smallie on the fight and because there are many big Smallies in the area where I fish, I kept waiting for it to jump but it didn't. It ran me into a bush and I just kept steady pressure on the line until it decided to run back out of the bush (lucky for me the line didn't snag on the bush). Was able to land it without a net (I forgot to bring mine). Took some photos and then released it unharmed so it can get BIGGER and BADDER!!!!

Wow! That's big for Redbreast Sunfish! I caught a few small Redbreast Sunfish in NJ when I visited my sister there!
