Throughout late summer and early fall, the larger shellcrackers move into several ox-bows off the upper Savannah River to feed and spawn. Through trial and error, I have figured out that one must take on a mentality similar to that of a trophy bass fisherman in order to catch these fish. Like a big bass, and a mature buck for that matter, these fish do not get big by being stupid, so outsmarting them is the key. Running out the door but wanted to add a comment to my 'friend request'.  I'm an outdoor writer from the Chicago area and the shellcrakcers you are catching are insane.  Better than that pay gills at Richmond Mills.  Would love to do an article on you and your amazing achievement in targeting those fish.

Congratulations! Those shellcrackers are incredible. I've never seen anything like it! Thanks for taking the time to post those, and we hope that sometime we can get some information on what methods you were using.

Great job.
