Clearly, the light bite is characteristic much of the time for trophy gills. We've had it up my way ( Maryland), we had it at Richmond Mills and you have it at Perris. And, although these big fish will occassionally take a bigger bait or lure, they clearly prefer smaller stuff almost all the time.
Are you tipping your jigs with live bait or Gulp?

Fascinating. I had heard that the lake has shad - usually that translates to smaller bluegill but obviously not always. Are there a lot of predators in the lake? I know there are huge largemouth.
Hey Jim...I think Jeff is right...if you send your fish to Tim Overbaugh, on this site, he will make an exact replica of your fish and paint it true to form.
