hey jeff, looks like dennis and i will be down on weekend of 8th and 9th.. am putting together the oyster roast at 3pm on sat the 9th,.,,,please, please come, and bring a couple of your buddies,,,,,i am really looking forward to seeing you again,,,,,have a few items for you please reply soon
hey jeff--dennis mentioned that coppernose bg are leader shy....do you find that to be so...as i fish with true turn hooks, with leaders.....what would you recommend...i can tie on a hook with floro carbon, but that take extra effort and time....
just keeping in touch...white perch will show up and the bite will be on in a couple of weeks....will visit nc a couple of times in march, to help dennis out, and will do some exploring down there...in late afternoons....maybe we could get together for dinner one evening, our treat...
They are calling for 12 to 18 inches of snow in my yard tomorrow. I have nowhere I have to be and nothing to do except open up four different driveways and parking areas, and I likely won't get to that until late in the day or even Thursday morning.
Hey Jeffrey, I mostly fish Lake Murray, the Saluda River and several ponds in and around Columbia. My son lives in Summerville (and on a pond) but I haven't fished Santee in a number of years. I used to fish there a lot but it kept getting more and more crowed and the fishing fell off compared to what it was years ago. Maybe we can share some water this year. Good luck and keep in touch..........Don
Thanks for accepting, I really enjoy your pictures. It's always interesting to see what people in other parts of the country are catching, especially when they're fine specimens of their species.
Love your pics. Here at Britt Park ponds the crappie or the shell crackers never bit. Last year with minnows you were catching them left and right. This year it was very bad. Recon what you call bluegill I call brim. But i have never seen pan fish that big. Is there a size limit on Bluegill? I know crappie is 8 inches in our ponds. At Jorden Lake is 10 inches

So Jeff, will you tell me what kind a rod and reel that I should invest in so I look like a professional angler....lol....I am tired of using a Zebco, with that being said, I don't like a bait caster b/c i am not good at it and I don't really know the art of fly fishing. What rod would you recommend for my BBG, what lb test line, size hook, weight, spinner/swivel, ect. I guess I have been just lucky so far, but it's time to get "ill." By that I mean serious. Are there any BBG tournaments in this state? Holler back at me when you get a chance. No hurries.
Jeff, Living in the central piedmont of NC, I have NEVER fished in the rivers....with that being said, am I making a mistake? I live in an area where 3 rivers run nearby....the Eno, the Little and the Flat....The Eno runs into Falls Lake, The Little runs into Lake Michie and the Little runs into the Little River Reservior. At certain times of the year, I see all these "minority" folk fishing at this one place on the Eno just up from The Falls Lake and I've always been told they were catching "Hybrids." Not knowing what that means, I'm assuming that is white hybrid bass?? Anyway...my dad just never took me river fishing because we have all these nice lakes and ponds. Now, on to my quest for BBG hunting....I'm convinced that ponds hold the key in my neck of the woods, but I may be very wrong. I don't have a boat so all I do is bank fishing. I'm going out today and try out some neighboring ponds.
Jeffrey are you fishing larger jigs for larger fish or does it not mater. I'll be trying your method fishing a jig under a float when we start our vacation in July. Just wanted to know what was the determining factor in your jig size selection.
Thanks Jeffrey for getting back with me. I think I have plenty of pink in the 1/32 and 1/16 oz and I think I can find a float or two. Again thank you. I'll let you know if it worked for me and how long I can last without putting a twister tail on.
Thanks Jeffrey, the pleasure was all mine. I really enjoyed talking to a fellow Veteran and true fisherman. Had a great time chatting with you , and glad I got to me you. Thanks for your service as well and leave some of them big gills for me. Chris Spivey
Hey Jeff, How the fishing been lately? I would really like to come down east with my son and Dad and catch some of these good looking bluegills that you are photographing...can you tell us where would be a good place to go? Is fall fishing good? Hope all is well with you and yours; we could wait til Spring as that would probably be the best time.
Yeah Jeff...roughest winter in years, maybe decades. We have 10 inches of ice and the last time I saw that locally was back in the early to mid 1980's. Thanks for the thoughts!
Welcome aboard Jeffrey. I wanted to do something with the electronics because they are so under utilized. The electronic today do so many things not like the older units they showed the depth and a occasional wed bed or maybe is wasn't a weed bed. Hoping this group might help us understand our electronic and how we can utilize them to there fullest potential. WELCOME JEFFREY...
Happy birthday Jeffrey. Hope the family and you planned something major for the weekends festivity, combining both bday and Thanksgiving. Food comatose in the horizon?
Hey Jeffery..I catch Blue gill from time to time but you know my realy passion. I just got back from a Florida Business trip a few days ago and I could watch the fish just swimming around. I didnt have the time to fish. To much to do in such little time.
Hey Jeffrey, do those big gills bite all year in those dark water swamps? My wife and I will be relocating to the Charlotte area. I wonder if Norman and Wylie are good panfish lakes? I am sure they are. I want to take a ride out to your waters and maybe down to Santee Cooper also when we get there. Have you fished any of those lakes? I heard SC has some big bream.
Hi Jeffrey, I haven't. Been to rice lake since they started the new regulations 2010 my son married a local girl 25yrs ago so we all go. To one of the resorts for a week. We have been going to Bobs lake near by, less pressure and the gills willing. You should try it, you can actually get tired of catching bluegills.
I live about 10 minutes from the NE Cape Fear and 20 minutes from Black River, however I fish the Trent and Neuse rivers more frequently when I'm not fishing the crappie tournaments.
