What about a place to up load pictures of all these kid fishing picture in one place?
Man I just love seeing these smiles doing thing we all love to do when we were young. Give a man a fish feed him for a day. Theach him to fish feed him a life time.

Hay Bruce, got a question for ya. Whats the easiest way to tell between a male and female gill? Whats really got me confused is all the crappie, perch, bass, northern, walleye I've been catching have their spawn in them right now. But not the gills. Color and ear length are what I've been paying attn. to but the spawn thing is got me thinking. Jody from WI

    Thanks Bruce,
Thaks for the welcome. Looks like a great site.
  • bluegillboogieman

Did you see it? I never noticed it before. And yes , I'm sure and here's why.

A man dies and goes to Heaven. St. Peter is showing him around when the new arrival sees an old man wearing a houndstooth hat walking on water in a nearby pond. He asks St Peter...Is that Bear Bryant? No says St. Peter, that's GOD. He just thinks he's Bear Bryant.

Notice Gene or Nick are not mentioned?

    Hey Bruce,
I got my hands on In Fisherman Magazine today and went strait to the bluegill article. I felt you and Jim represented us gill getters very well, I finished the article proud to be apart of this Bigbluegill.com community. Thanks for being a good ambassador for our sport.
  • Jim (Ike) Isaac

Thanks for the welcome. I just got my In-Fisherman Monster Fish 2009 Special Report. That's where I got the link to this page. In "Quest for 2-lb Bluegills" you talk about 3 different lakes within an 2-hour drive of my home. Guess what I am going to be doing....
  • Jim (Ike) Isaac

Is there a way to sort the member list by state, last name, etc. It would make it much easier to find someone.
  • Jim (Ike) Isaac

It all depends upon what format the membership list is in. If you can get it out as an Access database file or an Excel spreadsheet it is easy. If you can get it out as a comma delimited text file you can import that into Excel and sort to your hearts content. Then comes the issue how to get the sorted file back into the membership list on-line. What would be ideal is to find a way to get your forum software to do the sorting upon request. I am not familiar with the software you are using so I can't be of any assistance there.
  • Jim (Ike) Isaac

I am kinda like an old dog I used to have, I barked before I was bit. If you go to the member list, on the right side is a pull-down that will let you sort them alphabetically. On the left side is a search text box, enter the state and it will list the folks from that state. Takes a bit of playing, California, Calif, CA all will give you different results.
  • cameron rogers

i saw a picture of you with a 2 pound bluegill on in fisherman
  • Val Cuarto

Dr. Condello, It is good to see another dentist who loves the big bluegill! All of my big blue gills have come from ice fishing and have caught one 1lb + accidentally trying to fish for those "pesky" Bass on a spnner bait. Unfortunately I did not have my camera with me. Thanks for the website and kudos for a great read in In Fish magazine. I may need to attend a conference in North Carolina some time soon! LOL
  • Patrick "Bullworm" Olson

  • Jeremy R. Mayo

I regret to say I only got pics from monday. I left the camera at the house and decided that I would just take em with my Iphone. They should put a warning not to use your iphone as a pfd. They will not float you when you fall out of the boat!
  • geoffrey f.simons

Hi , Bruce I love your site I heard you on the fish Schtick pod cast and was so impressed that I quickly set up a site. I like conecting with like minded folks who love Bull-Gill fishing. I chase them with a flyrod mostly, but also do the ultralite thing too. Have fun and catch lots of fish.

Thanks for the request, what a awesome web site. I will take a pic or two of my biggest mounted pair and post them for all to see. The weather is breaking for the best this morning and maybe I`ll get out on Wed.? Take it easy Chris....
  • Jim Barthelman

Thanks for the request Bruce! Heard about the wonderful site from the Moldchum.com entry. Pig bluegill you got there! Good to see a fellow bluegill junkie in Nebraska. Look forward to being back in the state end of June, chasing my favorite fish!
  • Swattie87

Thanks Bruce. Hope the warm weather this weekend turns them on so I can post some 2010 pictures. I've only caught a handful in my warmwater creeks so far this year...been having better luck in the trout streams still. This site is great though. Sunfish are my first love, and the PA forum site I belong to is dominated by trout anglers.

Ha Ha Bruce- In Weeds Magazine is going through a serious ego problem with its editor and contributors. The in -fighting is getting ridiculous as all persons involved are jealously fighting to be recognized as the worlds foremost weed catching expert.Competitive Bass fishing has never been this bad LOL!
  • Mary Baker

Thank you for commenting on my pic of the 3 blue gill.
  • 10.5" RES Sharon

I don't know what happened to my bbg email. I no long get email notifications on my group, comments, etc. Is everyone having this problem, or just me?
I have everything I want to be emailed about checked, and I used to get the emails. Also, I got a new smart phone and have emailed pictures to SharonDian165@bigbluegill.com, but I can't pick them up here. Any instructions?

  • James and Kathy Acerra

    Howdy Bruce
Thanks for being the first friend on my page.
Kathy and I thank you for the vist and first friend listing.
  • thomas j swank

Hi What is your photo technique?
  • Nick Peterson

Thanks, Bruce! You might not remember, but I got the chance to meet with you briefly at the Pond Boss Conference in Missouri last year. I was an undergraduate student from South Dakota State University at the time, working on a bluegill project under Dave Willis. I have officially migrated south to work on a largemouth bass genetics project in Puerto Rico through Miss. State U.

I enjoy seeing pictures of all the GIANT fish you catch in Pond Boss and online! Hopefully I can get my paws on some of those slobs as well! Take care!
  • Uriah Price

    Hello Bruce,

I came across your site; it is a good one. Looks like you are raising some very nice bluegill. Also glad to see you are still chasing wipers. I have missed fishing with you.

I am currently in Topeka finishing up my last year of law school. In May I am going to move back to Montana, take the BAR exam, and start searching for Natural Resources and Environmental Law jobs.

I lived in Jackson Hole, WY and Bozeman, MT from 2004-2008 -- as you can imagine, I spent lots of time on the Madison, Yellowstone, Gallatin, Snake, etc... I love fly-fishing.

Hope everything is great. We should try to schedule a wiper trip this spring before I move.

    Take care,

    Uriah
