Vintage Equipment Group

I know this sounds strange, but vintage equipment like fiberglass rods still have a place! We can talk shop and discuss why some vintage gear is just as good (if not better) than the new stuff.

Spinnerbaits have been an April /June Bass Bait for me .White and Chartruese for me as well.

  • Derrick Bustle

Dick. Rapala bought out Bagely and is now remaking the classics out of the Balsa wood. They sell them at Bass Pro Shop I know.
  • dick tabbert

Thank you Derrick that is nice to know. I know I liked the Bagely Balsa Baits when I did a lot of Bas fishing but didn't know if they were still in business. I gave up most of my Bass fishing years ago found out I catch as many if not more fishing foe Bluegills. I caught a 6 pound Bass this year on vacation on a 1/16 oz jig with a 1 1/2 inch twister tail on 4 pound fluorocarbon line. It got in the weeds and I thought I was going to loose it but finally landed it. Thank you for your input it is much appreciated.

They of course took the lead out of the lips.

Greg- Is this one of your favorite lures .It's in my 4-8 lb test Crankbait box and dont use it much but I used it a few times. I always thought it was a Rebel but now after your post maybe its a shallow running Manns Quarterback.

The original Garcia 5500c which started the Bass fishing tournament craze.

The 2500c small cousin to the 5500c uses less line and only half as big.

WOW that was 40 years ago, he also drew me a map to ROMAN NOSE LODGE, and caught bass all afternoon on the green and yellow one!!!!!!!! I did not catch another fish on that one till 16 years later!!!! If history repeats, it should catch fish in 9 more years!!!!!!! I get back to you on that!!!!

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

    HEY LEO,
I THINK IF YOU SIGN UP FOR MEDICAL EXPERIMENTS that they pay cash!!!! send me some cash!!!!!!

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

HEY GREG, YUP the old wonderods were all made the same way the spinning rods were. The fly rods came first however and then the spinning rods were introduced after them.

  • dick tabbert

Tooty they all look like twins. Does that mean there the same age or same rating or just the colors that they used. Nice vintage rods, I wished I'd of kept the ones I had.

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

Thanks Dick and they are all about the same age . You can use 5 weight on all three rods and the bigger one on the bottom will take a 6 no problem at all. The top two are 7' and the bottom is a 8'6" . If you click on the individual pics you can see the rod inscription details. I wished I had my first one too Dick but like an idiot I sold it about 25 years ago and haven't seen it or the fella who bought it again.

  • dick tabbert

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

Some of these old style baits , WIDOW MAKERS, are still made today and look like the old Fliker Spinners. Anyone remember those! Used to be great fly rod baits from 50 years ago. I must have 10 more full cards of these baits and never know when something will be unavailable again. Told my kids for years , WHEN YOU FIND SOMETHING THAT WORKS, BUYEM ALL CAUSE YOU JUST NEVER KNOW WHEN THEY'LL QUIT MAKING SOMETHING. SAME goes for the old Arbogast fly rod frogs underneath the Widow Makers......

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

Ya know these old baitcasters was all cutting edge technology 50-60 years ago and all our fathers and others had back then. We've come along way with the advent of Solid and then Hollow glass rods. Then followed by the wonder fiber Graphite and on to Boron mixes. Well guess what is old is new and what's new is old sometimes. Guess some bass anglers going back to glass rods because of the usually more limber tips ..........

  • dick tabbert

That's an oldie casting reel looks to be in great shape for sure.

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

These are my collection of LITTLE SAC BAIT CO. lures. Made by a fella named LANIER FEEMSTER , out of Springfield Mo. Great modern baits made the old fashioned way, with WOOD and by hand ...... Great new old style stuff.......

  • Leo Nguyen

All I can say is, "YOUCH!!"

5 trebles = one nasty hookup, or one ultra effective way to lip/snag/impale the victim.

  • DAVID L EITUTIS

HEY LEO what you doing , following me around here ? HHHHHHHHA HHHHHHHA AND YUP those lures are hookers for sure !!!!!! The guy does beautiful work doesn't he ......

  • Leo Nguyen

I sure am master. Incredible workmanship. He managed to put that many hooks on a wooden body, and not fear of the hooks just snapping off. That's confident in his work.
