what's up Anthony,i have been out of pocket for a while, but i can say the gills and chinks are bumping the beds down here. this cold weather is holding them back ,although i did catch  some nice chinks last week, but they where not bedding .

good to see you are still here. later shooter

John I liked that circle of life example.  I haven't started trying to catch any bream locally yet.  I've been working on tying a few bream catching jigs.  I did catch a nice one last week while sac fishing throwing a sac jig under a small cork (retrieve/jerk technique).  So man with a little warm weather you should start to pick up a few.

Tried the bluegill this morning in the canal along Hwy 190 in Slidell and didn't do good at all.  Caught two small bluegill using worms fished on the bottom.  The morning started out rather cold at 48deg. then warmed up when the sun got over the trees.  Hoped the bite would pick up when it warmed up some but no luck.  The only one having a good day was the abandoned  cat that found us and tried to eat my chum.  I gave her the two small bream which she was appreciative of.  Had a circle of life deal with the cat, she had a huge tick on her back between her shoulder blades.  When she got used to us and came over for a scratch, I plucked off the tick and put the swollen bug on my hook and cast it out.  That accounted for the second bream that she ate this morning.  Tick eats on cat, tick used for bait to catch bream, bream feeds cat, circle of life. :-)

Glad to see a new comment...I've been doing a lot of bream and sac fishing lately.  I've been doing pretty good along highway 51 LaPlace north to Hammond.  Caught these fishing a Berkley micro craw 2 ft under a toothpick cork, slow retrieve with an occasional jerk and settle technique.

Went to try out the fishing at a local town park this morning.  Water has been higher than normal due to Bonnie Carrie Spillway being open to lower the Mississippi River levels here in south Louisiana.

Only caught four bream, one nice red ear and caught my personal best yet on the Iwana rod.  A two or so pound bass.  Quite a bit of fun having him tug me around for a minute.  I saw something hitting around the boat launch bulkhead and tossed a home made yellow popper over near where he had been hitting.  One little twitch and he was on.  Really enjoy targeting an actively feeding fish and getting him to hit.

Great morning overall but it has gotten hot.  Got to the park a little after 6am and left before 9am.

My buddy, wife and I went back to City Park yesterday and caught several bluegill.  Most were thrown back as being too small but the action kept us entertained.  My buddy caught a small striped bass about 7" long.  We didn't know any existed in the lagoons.  We kept about 9 fish to cook.  Had a little visitor who destroyed my buddy's bobber.  I caught another large Texas Blue, didn't take a pic of him but he went home to live with his brother in my buddy's aquarium.

Caught one good fish on Tuesday in city park, about an 11" crappie on the black and yellow skunk fly but the line popped when I tied hauling it up from the bridge I was fishing from. Man I hated to lose him before getting a picture. Would have turned him back as he was the only keeper size fish we caught.

Got a few small bass and a couple small bream but had a great time anyway.

Gonna try to see if I can catch a few this holiday weekend with some of the micro (1/80) jigs that I tied a few weeks ago. Might try under I-55 near LaPlace and/or Spillway

Gnats ran us off the first place we tried today. Ended up at Heritage Park in Slidell.

Took my Iwana out today after getting run off from the first place we tried to fish by the gnats. We moved to another location where it was open enough to cast with the Iwana. I was using 16ft length of Dr. Ishigaki line that I bought from Tenkarabum. Got to say I love the new level line. It cast better than anything I have tried so far. This is the first time I can say that I am getting full extension of my line, 16ft high viz fluorocarbon and three feet of tippet.

I caught four bream on flies I tied. One on the Killer Bug as found on Tenkarabum's site and another I call a black and yellow skunk.
