Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Well, I just had to check out one of my favorite ponds and try the spoon gig again. On my very first cast I picked up a 10 inch BG/GSF hybrid and thought I was off to the races! Not so, but I did catch two more on the #3 Swedish Pimple tipped with the tail end of a silver Panfish Assassin. Totaled 5 hybrids, 3 over 10 inches, but no 11 pluses like last Friday. picked up a dozen small bass, mostly on the spoon.

Fish of the day was a 28 inch channel cat that took a sunfish intended worm and took me 20 minutes to land on 4 lb test line. Should have lost that fish...had my hands on him twice before I finally had to get wet to land it.

Photo shows the cattie in relation to my leg for a length reference. I feel blessed to be able to leave work and be catching fish within 10 minutes.

Rattlin Flash Spoons came in!!! I'll be tryin them!

Nice fish Jim, looks like your a natural when it comes to the spoon.....the no.#3 is my choice this time of year....1/5 oz. The RF spoons are great and have their place but during this time of year I usually work the no.3 or no.4 Swedish Pimple due to the depth of water gills are holding.....During the spring, when fish are shallow, and especially the fall, when gills are suspending, the Blue fox spoon shines like no other.....once surface temps drop to 52 deg, nothing outfishes the RFS.

My spoon of choice for the next few months will be the Swede in 1/5 to 1/4 oz, as the pattern is about to go deep.
