Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Here is the step by step on the foam frogs I posted earlier.  It can be tied on larger hooks with wider gaps and weed guards can be added.  Just cut your foam to match the size hook your using.

Materials:  size 6 hook,  strip of 2mm white foam cut 1/4 wide and 4inches long, olive crystal chenille, white thread, 2 yellow head straight pins, black and tan marker, arleene's fabric glue.

Push hook through center of foam strip on 2mm edge, slide to eye of hook,  attach thread to hook leaving foam unsecured, tie in chenille to form belly core, pull foam back and secure at hook bend, whip finish thread and cut off ,trim foam at angle for legs and install rubber legs as shown, color foam on top and edges leaving belly white, add black spots, cut straight pins to 1/4 inch and push into foam for eyes, take black marker and make eye pupil. Coat body and eyes with fabric glue and allow to dry.

Good tutorial Rex. Very good looking frog and nicely tied.

Rex , GOT this little fellar out for a little while last night!!!!! No gills or bass but This guy looks AWESOME in the WATER!!!The little feet just move so well in the water it looks like he is kicking!!!!

He will get some action more this fall!!!!! The only difference in my fly is I used a round foam !!!!!!!

The LEATLE GUY IS JUST SO STINKIN CUTE!!!!!!!

Greg, hope to see some pictures of it....hopefully hanging out of a big fish's mouth.

Rick King,  here's the info buddy.

Nice job on the fly. Sleepy

REX, Was in a POND yesterday with this FLY on a SINKING FLY LINE!!!!!! I could see it DIVE as I STRIPPED IT, then slowly rise on the PAUSE!!!!! The GREEN SUNFISH were hitting it on the RISE!!!!! This also kept me out of the MOSS!!!!!!

Greg, I found a good deal on some sinking line at Academy sports and plan on switching over to it as soon as water temps get hotter.  Just now starting to hit the top water around here so Mr. Kermit is going to get to see some action shortly.

Rex, My KERMIE, is not as PURDY as YOURS it was not PAINTED!!!! I use round foam 1/8 inch in YELLOW!!! With my DAUGHTER catching fish on YELLOW twister tail, I needed YELLOW to DEFEND MYSELF!!!! That is a GREAT LITTLE FLY!!!!!!!

what a great frog   pattern you are doing some wicked stuff with foam thanks for sharing

Stone, all you need to do now is add water.  Good job!
