what's your favorite bluegill? 3 Replies

My favorite bluegill is the coppernose, but I'd like to know in general, under the same conditions, are coppernose bluegill smaller than regular bluegill, or red ear, or pumpkinseed?

6.5in.

Comment by 10.5" RES Sharon on June 30, 2010 at 5:52pm: I caught a 13" catfish today. Also two 5" bluegill. I have never seen such a skinny catfish, with such a small head. Must be a different variety than channel catfish. Don't know how it got in my pond.

Comment by 10.5" RES Sharon on June 1, 2010 at 7:28am: I try to fish every day. Makes up for only catching small bluegills. They are only up to 7" in my pond. And, it turns out the lake across the street killed all their fish a couple of years ago to get rid of the goldfish. So, they are all young and small too.

Then we had the floods here in TN, everything is drying up but I still didn't get to go this past holiday weekend. Maybe the next one coming up!?
