Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

We have a couple of sponsors for our league so anyone fishing our events - we will have prizes and the excitement of big bags of fish.

For anyone new to fishing leagues, we make the schedule on a few lakes around the Chicago area where we will meet, draw numbers for spots and then head out to set up at these spots.
A horn sounds and then timed fishing runs 4 hours.

At the end of the 4 hours rods go down and then we go around and weigh the bags, see all the fish caught. This is a great way to spend a couple hours meeting new people and fishing together. Best of all, it allows you to see how you did, what fish were caught and to compare notes.

This is a casual environment for beginners to expert fishermen (and women) who want to get together. Everyone enjoys the day if they caught a few or they caught a lot. You will learn a great deal from these short sessions. The league fishes about twice a month.

If interested in fishing for lots of bluegill around Chicago as well as bonus catches of other fish, I will be posting our schedule here in a few weeks. Tell your friends around Chicago that this will be a great time - I look forward to meeting a bunch of you this Spring.

Drop me a line if you have any questions.

First Club & League Fishing Event - Sat. April 17 in Downers Grove, IL
(Thanks for the plug) I need some BigBluegill.com promotional items (small sign, small banner?) I can bring to these events... Are there patches? Even an 8.5 x 11 color sheet I can have at my table -..
League information update...
April 17 will be event 1 of 8 in the Chicago Suburban fishing league. This weekend at Lee's Tackle in Elk Grove Village there will be a 2-day fishing show where I will be available for registration and to answer questions about float fishing, live bait and all-important bluegill fishing (one of the main fish of our fishing league).
There will be free fish and barbecue from 10 - 2 on both days!
The fishing league ( and club) are great ways to learn how to catch fish as seminars are held for all club members on 6 of the event days -before the timed fishing event.

The league will feature bank fishing with live bait for blue gill, carp, channel catfish, golden shiner, goldfish, bullhead, walleye, bass & perch.. All species count that are of legal size.

Those not wishing to fish the league events can join the club and still fish the timed events -just not for standings. A :45 minute seminar based on the lake we are fishing will be given prior to the event showing a specific live bait fishing setup that will help you catch fish on that lake. Key tackle components and two knots will be shown to help everyone catch more fish.

For more information about joining the educational fishing club and or the league- either visit me at Lee's in Elk Grove Village - Saturday or Sunday or you can call me 630-235-2162.

Events will be held in Downers Grove, Arlington Heights, Bolingbrook & Bloomingdale. (Note- our Chicago location was fish-killed - thank you Cook County for killing 12.5 tons of fish?!).

Seminars are included free in the club and League fishing will feature a new angler's division so prizes are split so that 50% of these will go to - everyone - . This is not a cut-throat competitive prize money league- it is a social, learning fishing league to grow the sport.

You can join anytime up to the 8th event. Attend as many or as few seminars as your schedule permits. Learning during the seminar and the timed fishing event comes through listening -watching (participants during the event) and discussing setups as well as practice, practice, practice! Every club member will catch more bluegills and more fish as well as larger fish this season by attending.
Costs are between $35 - $75 annual depending on if you are in both club & league or fish all league events or enter the golden peg. $35 gets you to all seminars and all events - everything else is at your option.
