Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Many of you know I like to make fly bodies using the stretch magic cord that is available in craft store, that is used for jewelry bead work.  I have it in several colors but found some new colors this week while cruising the local Hobby Lobby.  It is available in gold and silver glitter color.  The gold color is a very good match for grass shrimp and damsel fly nymphs natural coloration and the silver would make some good minnow bodies.  It is 1mm in diameter and stretches down much thinner than that.  It's perfect for size 14-8 hooks.  This is it used on a size 12 hook....  If you find some you may want to give it a try.  I have fished other colors in similar patterns and have had good luck with gills and crappie.  So if you happen to be shopping a craft store as most of us budget minded tyers do keep an eye out for this.....

I picked up a spool of the silver and gold flake.  They make good segmented bodies for grubs.

thanks for the heads up on this product,

John

That is a good looking fly. I have never used any of this material, but will give it a try. Thanks for your post!
